H-4 Work Authorization – Rule Making in Jan!
Employment Authorization for Certain H-4 Dependent Spouses has been a topic of discussion at the Senate for years. The Federal Rule Making Agenda mentions the proposed rule for H-4 EAD would complete by January 2014. This would allow many spouses living in the united states to start working and have their dreams fulfilled.
H-4 EAD Abstract:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) proposes to amend its regulations by extending the availability of employment authorization to certain H-4 dependent spouses of principal H-1B nonimmigrants who have begun the process of seeking lawful permanent resident status through employment. Allowing the eligible class of H-4 dependent spouses to work encourages professionals with high demand skills to remain in the country and help spur the innovation and growth of U.S. companies
Further Steps
Completion of Proposed Rule
Initiation, approval, completion of Interim Finale Rule.
It looks like we are close to finishing the first step by the end of January 2014.

Apache Tomcat Not Showing in Eclipse Server Runtime Environments
I have tomcat 5.5 installed, running and verifiable at http://localhost:8080/. The Tomcat menu option appears in the Eclipse menu bar and I can start and stop Tomcat from there. In Eclipse, it does not show as a Server Runtime Environment in Window - Preferences - Server - Runtime Environments, nor does it appear in the list of environments that can be added when I click the "Add" button. All I see is the J2EE Runtime Library
In my case I needed to install "JST Server Adapters". I am running Eclipse 3.6 Helios RCP Edition.
Here are the steps I followed:
Help -> Install New Software
Choose "Helios - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/helios" site
Expand "Web, XML, and Java EE Development"
Check JST Server Adapters (version 3.2.2)
After that I could define new Server Runtime Environments.
EDIT: With Eclipse 3.7 Indigo Classic, the steps are the same but you need both JST Server Adapters and JST Server Adapters Extentions to get the Server Runtime Environment options.
Also works with Eclipse 4.2 M6. Don't forget to install the "JST Server Adapters Extenstion"

How Negative Energy Affects Your Life and How to Clear It Read more at: http://www.social-consciousness.com/2013/09/how-negative-energy-affects-your-life-and-how-to-clear-it.html
http://www.social-consciousness.com/2013/09/how-negative-energy-affects-your-life-and-how-to-clear-it.html
You know that like attracts like, right? So here's the deal: Positive people are drawn to positive energy; negative people are drawn to negative energy. We tend to perceive negative energy as something other people have. Sure, sometimes we feel negative – as in, “go away and leave me alone, world!” but did you know that negativity can be so ingrained in you that it goes unnoticed? That's because negativity sometimes wears a disguise called ‘reality'. It's easy to rationalize that you're ‘just being realistic' in not daring to act on a dream – and believe it! You may assume that positive people are not being realistic – that they're being naive, that they are in denial with their heads stuck in the sand, that they put on fake smiles in the face of difficulty and so forth. But are they really happy idiots or is there something to their positivity? Consider this: since when does ‘being realistic' necessarily mean that things will go wrong and that you have to accept that as the truth? That doesn't mean that being realistic is automatically negative. When you view the world from a ‘realistic' standpoint, you can't help but be negative IF your version of reality is negative. If your version of reality is negative, you are conditioned to believe that whatever can go wrong, will go wrong and whatever can go right, will probably go wrong too. Your unconsciously held beliefs make you into a negative person without your being aware of it! So – if this negativity is so ingrained in you that you don't notice it, how do you determine whether you're stuck in a cloud of negative energy that is attracting the wrong people, wrong situations and wrong feelings? And how can you be sure you're not perpetuating that negativity? Here's a quick quiz to gauge the level of negative energy within you: - Do you complain? All the time or just sometimes? - Do you often discuss what's wrong in the world more than what's right? This includes the ‘terrible' weather, ‘horrible' traffic, ‘idiotic' government, ‘lousy' economy, ‘stupid' in-laws, etc. - Do you criticize? All the time or just certain people? - Are you attracted to drama and disaster (can you unglue yourself from the TV when there's a news story of a disaster and can you avoid getting involved in the lives of dysfunctional celebrities?) - Do you blame? All the time or just certain situations? - Do you believe that you have no control over most of your results? - Do you feel like a victim? Do you talk about people doing things to you? - Are you grateful for what is or will you be grateful when things finally start going right for you? - Do you feel like things are happening to you? Or do you feel that they are happening through you? These last two points are important: If you're not grateful except when things go right, you are negative. Gratitude is positive. If you are grateful for what is (including the unpleasant school of life lessons, then you can invite more and more positive energy into your life. Believing that things happen to you puts you in the role of victim; then it's easy to be negative because it's convenient to give up that power. So consider this alternative: who or what is to blame when GOOD things happen to you? Do you acknowledge that you are responsible for the good things – as in, you worked hard, you earned it, etc… but blame external events or other people for your failures? So how come, when good things happen, they are a result of what you do, but when bad things happen, they are not your fault? Nobody likes to hear that. It takes courage to accept that you create your life experience! If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you are holding on to negative energy to some degree! To clear your negative energy and raise your vibration, you will need to retrain yourself to choose a positive attitude. Here's another interesting idea to consider: have you noticed that positive people seem to get what they want out of life, and even if things don't go their way, they still enjoy their lives… while negative people whine and moan about their misfortunes and even the good things in their lives? To clear negative energy, try this 3 -step process: 1. Take ownership: “When you think everything is someone else's fault, you will suffer a lot. When you realize that everything springs only from yourself, you will learn both peace and joy.” – the Dalai Lama 2. Cancel negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts. This takes practice, dedication and making a decision to see the world through the eyes of “what can go right” instead of “what can go wrong.” You'll have to catch yourself anytime you are acting out or speaking out your negativity, and immediately change your tune. 3. Use the Love or Above Spiritual Toolkit to clear your energy and bring more light and love into your life; visualize the positive instead of getting sucked into negativity; overcome past conditioning; think intuitively from the soul instead from ‘reality'; create a new, desired reality in your imagination and manifest it in the outer world. Nobody wants negative energy to permeate their lives, yet many of us allow it. But we allow it unconsciously, based on past conditioning that suggests an inevitable outcome to certain situations. When you overcome that conditioning and realize that the future is NOT cast in stone but that you have more control over your circumstances than you believe – then you can begin to consciously design your life. What's going to happen then? Your positive energy will magnetically attract what you consider to be good and right for you: people, situations, things… and you'll notice a huge, huge increase in your happiness and inner peace. Why not choose positive energy? Make some changes within, and you'll quickly see positive changes in your life. Enjoy the good feelings and abundance! not installing plugin ,showing 1603 error
The infamous Windows Installer 1603 error is usually caused by a previously-installed version of a program that wasn't completely uninstalled, which leaves behind corrupted installation data. It can also be caused by a downlevel version of the Windows installer program itself.
Try this (you may want to print this out, since you need to close your web browser to do it): Close all your web browser(s).
Go to Windows Control Panel, Programs and Features, where you will find a list of installed programs. Look for, and then click to un-install, the "Google Talk Plugin" entry.
If you get an error message, or otherwise can't uninstall it this way, go here, to download and run Microsoft's automated "fix it" tool:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/
Now, go here, to download and install the latest version of the browser plugin. Don't be concerned that the plugin has been renamed to the "Hangouts" plugin. It supports Hangouts, (formerly Talk) and Chat, and calling from Gmail:
https://www.google.com/tools/dlpage/hangoutplugin
Log into your Gmail (not GV) account, and click the gear icon to get to Gmail settings. Click the Chat tab. Enable Chat, and then select, configure and test your audio devices (headset, or microphone and speakers).
Now, you should have the ability to click the tiny telephone handset icon next to your "avatar", or image representing your user ID, to make a call, either via the old chat, or new hangouts method.
or
If you want to continue using the CALL button from Google Voice to make calls from your computer, then (as of today, 8/11/2013, subject to change), if/when you are invited by Google to "Try the new Hangouts", do not agree -- this breaks telephone calling from GV or Google Contacts.
Enjoy making calls from Gmail.

Oracle Beta Certification Information when how what exams for certifications and their end dates

Oracle Certification
Oracle Certification Program Beta Exams
Beta exams are pre-production exams used by Oracle to evaluate new exam questions with the participation of a live audience. Beta exam questions go through a rigorous development and evaluation process before being released to the public. Data gathered during beta testing are used to select the best questions for the production exam, and to eliminate questions that are ambiguous, too easy or too difficult, or unhelpful in evaluating a participant's knowledge. Beta exams are offered at a deeply discounted price; candidates usually have 2.5 to 3.5 hours to complete the exam, and may see 120 - 220 questions.
Please consider carefully whether a beta exam is the right choice for you.
Select the categories below to see a list of all available beta exams at present:

Important Information on Beta Exams
Identifying a Beta Exam
Oracle Certification Beta Exam numbers begin with "1Z1"; Oracle Certification Production Exam numbers begin with "1Z0". Both versions of the exam have the same suffix. For example, a beta version of an exam may be 1Z1-512. The production version of this exam will be 1Z0-512.
Registering for a Beta Exam
Beta exam registration is available worldwide through Pearson VUE’s Online registration system or by telephone. Visit the Oracle Certification exam registration web page for registration details.
Beta exams are also available at Oracle Testing Centers (OTC).
Beta exam vouchers are not available, however, production exam vouchers you have purchased may be used to pay for beta exams. However, the full value of the voucher will be forfeited. Partial amounts may not be deducted from a voucher. If your voucher is worth $195US and you use it to purchase the beta exam at $50US, you will forfeit the remaining $145US and your voucher will not be valid for further use.
The Beta Exam is only available for testing appointments during the Beta Exam Period.
Taking a Beta Exam
As a part of the Beta exam, each beta candidate must complete a brief demographic survey. The survey results are kept entirely confidential. Candidates’ responses are compiled and used to calibrate the exam.
Beta exams contain more questions than the final version of the certification tests. Beta exams contain 120-220 questions compared with approximately 50-100 questions on a production exam.
Beta exams usually allow 2.5-3.5 hours for completion. With the higher number of questions, you may not have as much time to spend on each question of a beta exam as you will during the final exam. You also may not have as much time at the end of the exam to review your answers.
Feedback is integral to the beta testing process. We encourage candidates to include comments on specific exam questions. There is a feature in the test that will allow you to do this. You can add your comments as you are working through the exam, or you can mark specific questions and return to add your comments once you are finished answering the exam questions.
Beta Exams may only be taken once.
Scoring a Beta Exam
You will only be scored on the questions that are chosen for the final exam.
Since you are graded only on the questions selected for the production version of the certification exam, it may take up to 11 weeks after the close of the beta period to receive your exam results from Pearson VUE.
Passing a beta exam is the same as passing a production exam. For example, if you were to pass all the beta versions of the exams required within an Oracle Certification path, you will earn your Oracle Certification credential and receive the certificate in the mail.

How do I redirect from Apache to Tomcat?
I'm working on my first Java site. I'm running Apache Tomcat on port 8080, and Apache HTTPD on port 80. The current URL that I can access the site at is (for example) 123.4.5.6:8080. I want to remove the port number from the URL before I point the domain at the new IP.
At the moment I am only using Apache for phpmyadmin, however I plan on using it for CGI scripts and other stuff once I figure out
mod_jk
etc... So I don't want to change Tomcat's port to 80 and turn off Apache.
I hope this makes sense.
The correct way to do things is to leave Apache at 80 and Tomcat at 8080 and use a plug in (preferably mod_proxy) to proxy Tomcat from Apache. mod_proxy would only take you 10 minutes to set up.
This how-to is very simple to follow.
I'd recommend this too - best not have your JVM running as root unless you've got some other way of allowing it to bind to port 80.

mod_jk allows you to not run as root and still use port 80 to serve requests through Apache. – Mike
| |
@kgiannakakis: do you prefer this over mod_jk?
| |
mod_proxy is a newer module and is considered to be better than mod_jk. It is only supported from Apache's version 2.2 onwards. I personally have only used mod_proxy.
|
The usual way this is done, as you already mentioned, is to use
mod_jk
from Apache HTTPD to forward that content that you want to be processed by Tomcat.
There is a Quick HowTo at tomcat.apache.org. You need to do the following:
- Copy
mod_jk.so
into the appropriate modules directory for Apache HTTPD. - Create a configuration file
workers.properties
- In Apache HTTPD's
httpd.conf
, add a section to configuremod_jk
. - Ensure that Tomcat is configured to accept the
mod_jk
protocol, which is usually on port 8009.
The lines in
httpd.conf
with JkMount
:JkMount /examples/* worker1
tell Apache HTTPD which requests are to be forwarded to Tomcat.
Both the helpful answers above are good, but I much prefer mod_proxy over mod_jk. There's no extra installation to do for mod_proxy, unlike mod_jk, and the setup is much easier. mod_jk gives you more control over detailed tuning of Tomcat parameters, but if you just want a simple redirect from Apache to Tomcat, mod_proxy is the way to go.
If you want static content to be served by Apache instead of Tomcat you should use mod_jk :http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/proxy-howto.html
And what about SSL - if we want Apache to handle HTTPS, because it is faster then java/Tomcat?

soa suite installation in windows 7
Oracle SOA Suite is yet not certified to work on Windows7. Though it did run well on Windows 7 beta.
Installation procedure will be similar to that on Windows Vista.
Im running SOA Suite 11g on windows 7 home premium (AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-65 2.10Ghz with 4,00 GB RAM).
It all works fine. No issues so far.
I installed SOA Suite on Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit. Weblogic use 32bit jdk. But SOA need 64bit jdk. Nothing unnormal.
Was your SOA-Suite installation a vanila installation or you tweaked the installation process.
If later is the case can you please brief the tweak in process.
First, I installed JDK 1.6u17, both 32bit and 64bit. Then modified the registry, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation to 0. This is required by [JDeveloper|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/11/11.1.1.2/knownissues.html#install1].
Installed Jdeveloper and Weblogic and run RCU to create SOA repository as normal steps.
When installed SOA, it asked the location of JDK. It must be path of 64bit JDK. After installation, created a domain including SOA.
Everything goes well so far.
Did you use generic WLS installer (wls1032_generic) or wls1032_win32?
Do JDK versions matter? Can you provide any additional info about your installation procedure please?
When I try to install (on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit) everything goes well, untill creating the domain and I can't figure out what's wrong..
I finally made it work. I forgot to run the config.cmd as an administrator
Everybody should consider installing on a certified platform. Windows 7, Vista, and XP are not certified SOA Suite platforms. I know may will say "it can work" and they are right. However, keep in mind that when your company buys SOA Suite the odds of you actually getting a desktop copy are next to zero. The licensing costs are just way over the top at over $100K list for everything you need to run on a dual core desktop. Get used to working off a shared server early for which there are many certified platforms to choose from.
