Green Tea for Hair

When we think of Green tea, we think of all the benefits it gives us. But have you ever thought about its effects on our hair? Wondering what am I saying? Yes people, it does! Green tea helps inhair growth. There are many reasons for hair loss among which production of DHT i.e. DiHydroTestosterone is vital. DHT is produced when the enzyme 5 alpha reductase combines with testosterone. DHT then attaches itself to the hair follicle which causes it to stop production of hair.

Green Tea and Hair Growth

Green Tea is a Natural DHT blocker. It doesn’t have any side effects. Drinking green tea can stophair loss and stimulates hair growth. It has anti-oxidant properties which are believed to be mediated by epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a major constituent of polyphenols. EGCG is useful in the prevention or treatment of androgenetic alopecia by selectively inhibiting 5alpha-reductase activity. EGCG promotes hair growth in hair follicles ex vivo culture and the proliferation of cultured dermal papilla cells DPCs. The growth stimulation of DPCs by EGCG in vitro may be mediated through the upregulations of phosphor. Thus, EGCG facilitates hair growth through these dual proliferative and anti-apoptotic effects on DPCs.

Along with drinking green tea 4-5 times a day, you can also use it as a conditioner. Here is the recipe:

•    Put 2 bags of green tea in 2 cups of boiling water.

•    After the tea has cooled, remove the tea bags.

•    Pour the green tea through your hair.

•    Let it sit for 3-4 minutes before rinsing with cool water.

Firstly, this will improve your hair texture and with continuous use; it will help in hair growth. This recipe acts as a conditioner for your hair. It makes your hair smooth.

At present I've tried several Green tea mix which also includes green tea and matcha, green tea mix with oolong tea, and my favorite which is the tulsi green tea. Businessman made lots of money from a more modern tea mixes which are green tea and whip cream tops with black pearl. Severla cosmetic company includes it in their hair beautification products. But for me, a more natural and organic a tea is, the better.
